One of the most unique aspects of Eric’s work is his tireless dedication to IT best practices around Oracle solutions. The current Oracle community is commonly focused on application design and data, however Eric brings a refreshing complimentary and cohesive message that proper IT design and architecture is just as equally important as application design. Most notably, Eric is a clear authority in large mission-critical highly-available implementations utilizing fail-over, load balancing, clustering, and fault tolerance specifically for Oracle Solutions. In many of these cases, he has reduced downtime on Hyperion and Oracle implementations to mere minutes, even in the worst case data-center or hardware disasters, worldwide – all at a fraction of the cost of on-premise solutions. He has created a world class IT center of excellence for Mercury’s support and helpdesk groups that offer leading practices around Oracle hardware design/performance, installation, health monitoring, automation, backup/recovery, high availability, and troubleshooting and has worked closely with Oracle development to identify defects, test code, and exchange knowledge on different approaches to uptime and performance tuning.
The Oracle Corporation has awarded Eric the title of Oracle ACE Director in 2009 and has been spotlighted in Oracle Magazine. He also is a current board member and domain lead on the Oracle Application Users Group (OAUG), Hyperion Special Interest Group, and is helping lead efforts in the new regional OAUG Connection Point® conferences that launched in February 2010.
